We spent a quiet New Years Eve at home this year, played games, watched Dick Clarks New Years Rockin' Eve, and feasted on desserts, it was so nice and relaxing...I hope that's the way the rest of 2012 goes as well!
Now that the very shortest days of the year are over, I'm getting excited to have a little more daylight every day...looking forward to a couple of months from now when evening chores won't have to be done by flashlight!
FarmGiantDaughter started playing basketball, her jersey # is 42, her Dad's old college number, how cool is that?
We've really been enjoying going to her games, she's a natural as is only...well, natural lol!
Nice tip off...
and then she scores, nice!
In goat news, Fawn (or Fondue, as Giant calls her lol!) has taken over the title of Naughtiest Goat from Lola...
Not only does she feel free to let herself out of the goat area and eat hay right off the bale...
she goes and eats the horses hay too, lol!
But we've fixed Fawns little wagon...
We spent Sunday morning re-arranging and cleaning out the stalls to make a maternity ward for the Dwarf Nigerians, I even got to drive the Bobcat, so fun!
I always have the hardest time telling when goats are ready to kid; ones I think are gonna have babies any day go for weeks, and ones I think have weeks to go when I check them one day have kids the next!
Poor Flower miscarried a few days ago, just like she did last year and it looked like she probably should have carried another month or so, and they should all be pretty close to one another in gestation...
so we may be a little early, but all my pregnant goats are all together and out of Gen Pop, where they can get a little extra grain and I can keep a closer eye on them.
We still need to build them a little weathering yard, hopefully we'll have time to get to that this weekend, so everything will be ready to go when they all decided to kid out at once, on the coldest night of the year like everyone but Fern did last year!
Anyway, I'm excited to have baby goats again because as I've said before-there's nothing cuter than a baby goat!
happytrails!
