12 of 12

I joined a Facebook group with some of my friends called 12 of 12. The premise is that you take 12 pictures of your day on the 12th of the month, including a self-portrait, then make a scrapbook page and share with the group, and on your blog or wherever you like. I love this concept, it helps remind us take pictures of things we might take for granted or think of as too ordinary to be photo-worthy.
For the first 12, I chose to do 'a day in the (farm) life' with explanatory journaling for each photo. I'm already scrapbooking in a vintage album that's roughly 12x16. Love the vintage scrapbook, but it's hard to get a good pic of the pages, so I'll write out my journaling here.
1. Alarm goes off at 6:30-hit 'snooze' a few times.
2. Giants builds a fire while I make his coffe/lunch
3. Giant leaves for work-I feed the broody hens in the mud-room
4. I feed North 40 fowl-peacock, pheasants, turkeys, chickens
5.Get more firewood, check on hawk
6. Fix supper-often involves the crock pot
7. It's Thursday, so I clean & carton eggs for Friday delivery
8. Giant comes home-we do chores-I feel barn chickens
9. Giant throws hay to horses and goats
10. We get hawk out, feed & excercise her
11. Eat, watch TV before bed-lots of Food Network
12. Sick me with a rash on my face-ugh!
I already have ideas for the 'ordinary life' photos I want to take on the 12th of February...it's those 'ordinary' things that make up the vast majority of our lives, we should enjoy and celebrate them! So even if you don't join a group, try this 12 of 12 concept, it's a great way to notice and appreciate all the little events in our lives!
happytrails!
